This is a new curly Koa concert size rope bound ukulele built in the Pohaku workshop. It has good volume is bright and ringy and has a nice note sustain. There is good balance and clarity.
The wood is a golden colored curly koa from the big island of Hawaii professionally finished in a smooth glossy lacquer. The body and peghead are bound with a wooden rope binding. The fretboard and bridge are made out of East Indian Rosewood. The neck is made out of genuine quartersawn Honduran Mahogany. The inlaid fretmarkers are mother of pearl strips.
The back of the instrument is rounded as all Pohaku concert instruments are. The playing action and instrument set up are excellent and the ukulele is well intonated all the way up the neck.
The tuners are peghead brand 4:1 ratio planetary geared tuners that look like friction tuners but work oh-so-well! Very light weight also.
The, measures about 24” long and weighs approx 19 ounces. It comes with a hard shell case.
