Koa & Maple Soprano

This latest build is a Koa soprano. This is a simple unbound instrument with a Birds Eye Maple fingerboard and peghead veneer. The peghead shape is a variation of a banjo peghead that I recently made. The inlay I designed for the banjo came out so nicely that I modified it to fit the ukulele peghead and this is the first instrument that I have made with this design. The instrument is lacquer finished to a glossy finish. A set of 4:1 planetary Peg Head brand tuners provide easy and accurate tuning. The fretwork and set up of the instrument make it easy to play and quality precise building details allow it to play in tune with accurate intonation.

As usual the construction of this instrument is second to none and while being very lightweight it is a sturdy well constructed instrument that will stand the test of time. These little sopranos are generally very well liked by their owners and I’ve heard them described as playing a 50 year old Martin but in a brand new instrument.
