This is a new concert 10 size Pohaku Ukulele made out of Hawaiian grown curly Cuban mahogany. This is the second time I have executed this particular design, it was so successful the first time that it needed to be done again this time with a few added decorative touches.

My Hawaiian wood guy supplied me this wood calling it the Friends Tree, hence the name of Concert 10 Friends Ukulele

The concert 10 size Ukulele design is a full concert scale length of 14 3/4 inches and uses a smaller body cavity size than a ‘normal’ concert  size instrument which produces a bright sparky percussive sound such as  a good soprano instrument would have , but enhanced by the slightly larger body. This instrument doesn't disappoint. It's very bright and bouncy loud and very responsive.

It's playability is excellent. the intonation is spot on and the instrument plays in tune all the way up to fingerboard. The width of the nut is about 1 7/16” wide. The fingerboard is a smooth Pau Ferro Rosewood and accurate tuning is achieved with the 4:1 ratio peg head brand tuners.

The nut is made of bone and the saddle is hard Ebony.

The body wood is a rare  Hawaiian grown Cuban mahogany. The front and back plates are one piece. The neck is quarter-sawn Honduran mahogany.

The vintage banjo-esque peg head is inlaid with a leafy-scrolly Birdseye maple inlay, and the same birds eye maple is used on the little Fleur de Lis inlay,  on the slotted bridge,  on the edge binding, for the fret markers and on two small inlaid ticks surrounding the oval sound hole.

The back of the instrument is slightly arched on both of its axis creating a bowl like shape which all Pohaku ukuleles have. The finish is a super smooth, highly buffed shiny nitro cellulose lacquer finish.

The fit and finish of this instrument are second to none and the sound of it is even better than that. It’s a joy to hold and even more fun to strum.

Overall, the instrument measures about 24 inches long and it weighs only about 18 ounces so it’s super light weight and nicely balanced.
